8-bit playback and recording

mic, 2016 04 15: We have discovered some errors with 8-bit playback and recording. There will be some sweeping changes to make sure that all playback, recording, mixing, and effects handle playback data appropriately. At first glance, this error shows up during the recording of 8-bit data – the data is not correct, the VU meters will clip independent of the incoming signal, and there will be a lot of static in the signal. As we are correcting this, we will also check the rest of the software, wherever 8-bit data appears.

mic, 2016 04 18: This was corrected with version 2.5.4 of Orinj. This version was uploaded to this site on April 15, 2016. For 8-bit data work, this impacts the VU meters (especially during recording) and a few of the effects.
