Lydian-Mixolydian scale on guitar

The following are examples of the Lydian-Mixolydian scale (the acoustic scale) in C for various positions on the guitar neck. These examples assume standard guitar tuning (the open guitar strings are E, A, D, G, B, E from lowest to highest).

The horizontal lines in each pattern below are the guitar strings. The lowest guitar string is at the bottom. The vertical lines in each example are the frets. The fret numbers are at the top of each pattern. The first note on the scale (the tonic) is in white. The fifth note on the scale (the dominant) is in gray.

These scale patterns can be transposed to other positions on the neck to produce other Lydian-Mixolydian scales. Also, since not all of the patterns below start on the tonic of the scale the same patterns can produce other modes of the Lydian-Mixolydian scale (e.g., the major-minor scale or the melodic ascending minor scale).
